6th there Street In Austin Taken By Hennon Cooper

Exploring the Austin Music Scene has come to an end , well at least for this class assignment. I enjoyed traveling to the different clubs, meeting people, and hearing new music.

One thing that I feel that would’ve helped promote my content would have been using TikTok as my multimedia element. I noticed using videos of musical performances such as live shows get a lot more attention on tik tok compared to Twitter or Instagram. 

What I learned from this assignment will be beneficial to my future professionally because I have a basic understanding on how to put together a blog and on any topic . Also I can interpret data to improve on future blogs moving forward.  Another thing is it gave me an understanding on how to post on different social pages when I want to market for different things. 

When looking at the data I notice the twitter post had more engagement and views than the blog post. 

The most viewed post for my blog was the About me post followed by the Continental Pt. 2 

For twitter the most viewed post was the Continental Pt.2.

One reason I feel twitter has more engagement is because it’s easier to click a tweet than to travel to a blog and wait for it to load. Also videos are more entertaining than reading a blog

I also noticed that videos got more views than pictures , which makes me think tik tok would be a better platform to blog over live music events

The Continental Pt. 2

•For this week’s blog post I went back to the continental club to check out the SMS Band and Soul-man Sam who I previously saw at Skylarks lounge.

•Soul Man Sam & The SMS Band Packed the house for the late night show at the Continental.

•The first song that was played was called Night Train , and as soon as they started playing people were active and started dancing.

•As far as the bartenders, I met one bartender named Ruth Who New her drinks and made them even better. One thing that I did realize , after dancing with Ruth I need to work on my dancing skillS.

•The people in the crowd were just as nice and generous . When I first walked in two ladies to my right offer A seat next to them and we had pretty good conversation.

BAND
•The first thing I noticed were two new additions to the band , the organ and guitar player. The organist was by far the best that I’ve come across here in Austin.

•The SMS band was probably the most talented band that I’ve seen. They’re a fun group of people to listen to top it off you have Soul-man Sam busting out in dance moves entertaining the crowd.
Overall
•This band was so good , I will for sure bring a group of friends or a lady for a date . The reason is because I know the show will be worth watching after seeing the Band twice.
•This show was even better than the one I previously went to at skylarks lounge . The style of music was the same but the song selection was different.

Antone`s Night Club

Place

•For this weeks blog post I visited Antone’s nightclub
•At the entrance I notice this place had a interesting history from the old wall posters and the record shop at the front entrance.
• The club has tables that you can reserve and a general admission area where people were dancing talking, and standing enjoying the show .
• Antone’s is one of the nightclubs that opens early and has shows throughout the day on weekends.
• Also Antone’s has a lot of history , musicians such as B.B. king ,Ray Charles and many other legends have preformed here.
• There wasn’t a lot of dancing going on , I noticed people walking around and socializing more.
• I suggest purchasing a table to sit at a few days before you go because they are limited .

The Band
The band for the night was WC Clark and a few of his musician friends.

•WC Clark is a blues musician and i overheard people at Antone’s calling him the “God Father of Austin Blues”
• I can honestly see why , he has the voice you would imagine an older blues singer would have . On top of good vocals , he is a well played guitar player . I’m not sure of the names of the other musicians but the saxophone player and the organist were two of the best I’ve heard in a while !

•As i stated previously a lot of people didn’t dance but they did pull out their phone to record because it great show!

My takeaways


•Antone’s is a nice place to take your significant other to see a show , better to you reserve a table if possible. Once it’s reserved I noticed those getting up and dancing

• Arrive early to get a good view if you paid for a show to stand in general admission.

• Great place to meet new people , can go alone or with someone.

• WC Clark and the band put on a display of good classic blues music , this is another band you must see when you get a chance..
